Fernbank Science Center

FSC Health and Safety Reopening Protocols

We are excited to welcome you back to Fernbank Science Center! As we reopen our doors to the public, it is necessary to change some of our policies and procedures in order to keep our staff, students, and visitors safe. As part of the DeKalb County School District (DCSD), we will follow all DCSD COVID-19 protocols, which are based on current Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations. We want your visit to Fernbank Science Center to be an enjoyable and memorable experience, therefore, please be respectful and considerate of everyone.

Masks Recommended

Masks: According to the CDC, wearing a well-fitted mask along with vaccination, self-testing, and physical distancing, helps protect you and others by reducing the chance of spreading COVID-19. Masks are strongly recommended, especially in the planetarium. Masks will be available at the front desk, if needed.

Reserve Tickets

Ticketing: We are excited to be transitioning to contactless ticketing!

Visitors are strongly encouraged to reserve planetarium tickets in advance. Planetarium tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Free planetarium tickets are available at the door for DCSD employees (with ID). Discounts for military personnel, ASTC members and college students are also available at the door with proper ID.

Stay Six Feet Apart

Practice Safe Distancing: Another practice to help slow the spread of COVID-19, especially to protect higher-risk individuals, is to maintain a safe distance from others. Therefore, we ask all visitors to practice safe distancing. Keep your group together as much as possible as you move through the Science Center and respect the safe distancing signage found throughout the exhibit hall. In the planetarium, seat your group at least 2-3 seats from other groups.

Please Wait

Restrooms and Water Fountains: Our water fountain is closed.  However, a bottle refill station is available. We strongly encourage all visitors to bring a reusable water bottle. If all stalls in the restroom are full, please stand outside until a stall is available. Handwashing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick. Please wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Follow One-Way System

Please follow the one-way foot traffic signs while you tour the exhibit hall.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

All high-touch areas and restrooms will be cleaned regularly throughout the day.
Hand sanitizer stations will be provided throughout the exhibit hall.
