The Scientific Tools and Techniques Program (STT) is a challenging, fast-paced, one-semester program designed to familiarize 9th grade students with the tools and techniques of scientific inquiry. STT students are involved in rigorous science curriculum and take an array of life and environmental science modules taught by instructors who are field specialists. In one semester students take two accelerated high school science courses: STT Biology and STT Environmental Science.
Calling all 10th-12th graders with a passion for discovery and critical thinking! Fernbank Science Center’s Students of Advanced Research (SOAR) program are your gateway to mastering STEM skills. In one semester, students take two courses: AP Seminar and Scientific Research III.
Do you want to learn about the engineering design process, crime scene investigations, ecosystems, or AP Physics? If so, the Advanced Studies courses at Fernbank Science Center may be for you! These unique experiences, offer engaging, hands-on, laboratory and field investigations where students have the opportunity to:
Learn from expert instructors in a college-like environment.
Have more in-depth understanding of scientific phenomena.
Gain exposure to many fields of science and science careers.
Develop friendships with students from other DCSD schools.
Take unique science electives that may not be available at your school.
Transportation will be provided for all DCSD schools except Tapestry. Students will be picked up at a stop in their neighborhood and will either be transported directly to FSC or to a shuttle that will bring them to FSC. A bus will also return students to school at 11:00 AM.
